Orchid Valley Part 1

We were asked to create a new entrance and improve the existing walkway of an area that would be open to the residents of a local development.

Click on 'read more' below to see how it progressed.

I started by clearing what would be the new access route with a back hoe.
I then roughly marked out where I wanted the walkway to run.

We lined the pathway with local stones and laid plastic sheeting. This was to prevent weeds growing up through the gravel.

We were installing plastic, laying gravel and placing rocks at the same time.

The pathway now has its clear definition.

There was a large open area near the canyon entrance where a concrete slab used to sit.

I wanted to add a bed here for more plantings as well.

For the actual canyon itself, we  repaired and re-painted an existing hand rail.

We would also refurbish the existing tree platform.

The platform overlooks a seasonal river

We started to remove the existing flooring

The pathway continues into the valley.

Back up top, we installed a concrete table and chairs.

I also had the back hoe back to installed a few decorative rocks

Whilst at the same time we began installing the new wooden platform.
