Boquete Canyon Village Gymnasium Part 1

As part of the Boquete Canyon Village clubhouse re-model, we created a new gymnasium. The new gym was situated where a former office space had been. This room would need to be heavily adapted. A corridor would be installed to provide access past the gym to the swimming pool. New windows would need to be added, the ceiling raised and a new floor installed, not to mention a host of different jobs that would be undertaken.

The former office space, was a long room, with a flat ceiling and a tiled floor.

There were french style windows and a door that lead out to the future pool space. The plan was to increase this window space, and reduce solid wall so a unobstructed view could be achieved out to the pool.

After removing the furniture, we began taking down the ceiling.

A corridor was built at the end of the room so that visitors can pass past the gym without entering, giving easy access to the outside pool.

To achieve this, we had to open holes in the walls either side, and blind a new wall, to create the corridor.

We removed the old doors and windows, then the former ceiling structure.

To create the new windows, we had to extensively change the existing wall.

New holes where opened and old windows filled up. The new windows would be evenly spaced and have a clear, open view to the outside.

Extra support columns also had to be added to achieve this.

The new windows would provide a much better view for the future gym users.

The new ceiling structure is installed in the form of the future cathedral ceiling.

The large windows are installed, and a wooden trim is placed around them.

The sheetrock is on the ceiling and we are ready to begin the finish work.

Check out part 2 to see the finish out and the final look of the gym.
