The following post is a follow up from the post "Casa AlyKat Garden Project"
After the irrigation system was installed, I had the stone lajas delivered.
We marked out the rough path areas before we began.
Here we are placing the first stones
The paths quickly took shape.
We added slight curves to the paths, to make them more attractive.
Whilst this was being done, we began putting in the edging material for the leaf-shaped flower beds.
This is one of the 'branches' out towards one of the seating areas.
Here is the other. The space was left temporarily to pass wheel barrow traffic through.
The idea was for grass to eventually grow through the gaps in the stones.
With the beds marked out, and drip line installed, we began some planting. The clients themselves have been choosing the particular plants they want and their locations.
These plants will grow very fast and and quickly fill out the beds.
The slope of the ground required a solution for this particular seating area.
The seating areas were made using the same stone lajas, but in this case, the stone were set into reinforced concrete.
This is one of the finished 'leaf' seating areas, surrounded by a flower bed, serviced by the drip line.
We dropped the seating area and added a small wall behind it to hold back the rear bed.
The heavy rains have been etching water flows into the soil. This is almost impossible to prevent until the grass takes hold fully.
I was quite pleased with the end result of this particular seating area.
We tested the sprinklers again after the stone work was finished
These will keep the grass growing into the dry season.
The grass seed quickly began growing in the pathway joints.
Now the main work is done, we wait for the grass and flowers to grow.
Check back here for future updates.
