Floor Tiling

I have been guilty of not regularly uploading photos again to this site. Hopefully I can remedy that a bit here.

In this post I share some photos of us tiling the large house covered in stone.

The concrete slab was poorly poured (not poured by us). The levels were incorrectly calculated and it meant we had to install a topping before laying the tiles. In some places this was around 4"-5"!

The nature of the large terrace meant this was especially important, as there needed to be a slope on the terrace away from the main house. The original concrete slab was actually sloping the other direction.

The client specifically requested very large grout lines of 20mm. This is very different to the usual spacing of around 4mm.

The great room went quite quickly once the workers got into a rhythm.

The smaller rooms took a bit longer because of the cuts.

Getting the slope right on the terrace was very important. To little and the wind will drive the rain up across the terrace. To much and it feels uncomfortable to walk on.

We are currently finishing out the terrace.

Its awkward shape has meant some interesting slopes will be employed.

Once it is all finished and the grout installed, I think it will go very well with the stone and the wooden ceiling.
