Fire Pit Part 1 - Boquete Canyon Village

As part of the Boquete Canyon Village Club House Project, we were also contracted to build afire pit in the grounds as part of the landscaping overall.

Boquete Canyon Village Club House Landscaping Part 3

This is part three of the posts looking at the work we undertook to the landscaping of the Boquete Canyon Village Club House. This post follows directly on from  Boquete Canyon Village Clubhouse Landscaping Part 2

Boquete Canyon Village Landscaping Part 2

Here we look at the work we undertook at the Boquete Canyon Village Club House to improve the landscaping. This particular post directly follows on from Boquete Canyon Village Club House Landscaping Part One

Boquete Canyon Village Swimming Pool Part 1

When we started the Boquete Canyon Village Clubhouse renovation, the pool was always going to be an integral part of the whole project. When we began the main pool's concrete structure was already in place. Our work would not only involve finishing the original pool, but also adding an additional dip area.

Boquete Canyon Village Gymnasium Part 1

As part of the Boquete Canyon Village clubhouse re-model, we created a new gymnasium. The new gym was situated where a former office space had been. This room would need to be heavily adapted. A corridor would be installed to provide access past the gym to the swimming pool. New windows would need to be added, the ceiling raised and a new floor installed, not to mention a host of different jobs that would be undertaken.

Boquete Canyon Village Club House Landscaping Part One

The new administration of the Boquete Canyon Village project asked me to perform a total refit of the club house. As part of this, some major work was required for the landscaping of the site.

Orchid Valley Part 1

We were asked to create a new entrance and improve the existing walkway of an area that would be open to the residents of a local development.

Floor Tiling

I have been guilty of not regularly uploading photos again to this site. Hopefully I can remedy that a bit here.

In this post I share some photos of us tiling the large house covered in stone.

Kitchen Plans

I am currently working on some plans for a kitchen.

The plans are still in their early stages, but will be used to thrash out the final plan with the client.

Metal Railings

We are also currently installing a metal hand rail.

Maintenance Shed

In this post, I share photos of a storage shed we are currently building.

The maintenance shed was required to hold the water system, which would mean water tanks, pressure pumps, pressure tanks & filter systems including UV.

The second part of the shed would be used for garden maintenance items and a sit on mower to take care of the large lot.

Casa AlyKat Garden Project Part 2

The following post is a follow up from the post "Casa AlyKat Garden Project"

Casa AlyKat Garden Project

In this post, I would like to share some photos of some work we are doing as part of a landscaping project.

The clients plan to build a larger house on their property in the future, but for the moment they wanted to landscape the area around the guest house which had just been completed.

Terrace Roof Construction

This post is a follow-on from the previous post "Terrace Roof Design Ideas"

In that post, I shared some concepts for a new roof over an existing back terrace.

Terrace Roof Design Ideas

I have not written on this blog for a while, but we have been busy, so I have some catching up to do.

This post is to show you some designs for a a terrace roof on an existing house. The client had been living in the property for some time and decided to cover an existing terrace with a new roof. He always said that it was a nusence as it was because the rain would easily pour into the windows when it rained because there was no overhang, and generally he wanted to enjoy his terrace and the views when the weather was bad.

So we talked about some designs, and I converted them into some models.

Quick Gazebo Ideas

I was talking to a client who was interested in having a simple gazebo built in their garden. It's main purpose was only going to be to string up a hammock and enjoy the views, without rain being a problem.

It is sometimes quite difficult to convey to the client how a potential design may look. To some, 2D plans alone are not sufficient to understand the final look. Traditionally, my 3D models were very time consuming, especially in the design phase where you know there are likely to be changes.

Sketchup, on the other hand provides a great tool to me. It means I can produce rough 3d models quickly, that are excellent for conveying a concept across, without all the work of a 3D model in something like 3D MAX.

Laying Sod - Woodpecker Project

In this post, I would like to show you some before and after photos of a landscaping project we worked on. Specifically, we will look at the installation of the lawns.

Another Rock Wall

A few months ago, we completed a rock wall installation at another property. I would like to share some of these photos with you.

Entertainment Gazebo Update

I would like to add some progress photos on the gazebo I mentioned in the post "Entertainment Gazebo"

Click 'Read More' below to see the latest photos of this project.

Stone Vegetable Patch

In this post, I would like to share with you some photos of a vegetable garden we made as part of a larger landscaping project.

Now an active vegetable garden, the attractive beds are producing well.

"We don't want to have to cut the grass" Progress Update

If you have been reading some of my other posts, you would have seen this project has involved a number of different items that I have disscussed. The purpose of this post is to present a few photos of progress on the work been done on the large terrace and its flower beds.

Staining The Top

You may have read some of my recent posts where I have been making and polishing a concrete counter top for an outdoors kitchen. The untreated counter top came out white in color. The plan all along was to stain this counter top blue, white ingredients instead of grey were used in the pour with the idea to enhance the final blue color.

The stain was not cheap. Because of the rarity of these materials here, I had to order a whole gallon of stain which typically would cover 400 square feet. Of course, we only needed 20 square feet. After the purchase, my client has actually discovered how to create her own blue stain, but now we can save that experiment for another day and another post.

Countertop Polishing

After much anticipation, I could finally begin polishing of the two kitchen slabs that were discussed in the post "Concrete Countertop".

Tall Rock Wall

On this particular job we attempted our tallest rock wall yet at 5' high. These walls have no cement, they are completely rock stacked on rock, with small stones used between them to keep them in place.
After deciding on the wall's position, the backhoe was brought in to find and deliver stone from the surrounding area.

Concrete Countertop

After a lot of help and encouragement from the client of the "We don't want to cut the grass job". She let me try out a concrete countertop for the gazebo kitchen.

We decided to create two slabs. The kitchen is an L shape, so two slabs would be a little difficult to manoeuvre. This is not to mention, that together the slabs weigh probably 600 lbs! Both slabs would be simple rectangles, but one needed holes for a sink and a faucet.

Quick Apartment Concept

A client asked me to come up with a quick concept for 5 units placed on a thin lot. The lot has stunning views out the back over looking a large canyon. Because of the narrow lot, each unit could only be 4.60m wide (15'). They wanted a carport, 2 bed and 2+1/2 Bath, and to maximize the view. They were also pushed for time. So all in all, not an easy task, but they were happy with the result:

Ground Floor

Rock In Concrete

Here I would like to share some photos of some work using rock set into concrete. The employee who does this for me is becoming a master of it, and our previous examples of this type of work, keep generating me more business.

Curved Bench

This post includes some pics of a curved bench we have been working on.

Made from block and poured concrete, it follows a similar style to other items on this particular landscaping project.
